Hymn singing is the time for the congregation
to meditate upon God’s love, grace, and mercy
through the singing of hymns.
The role of the hymn leader is to guide the congregation
in singing praises to the Lord
as well as to prepare their hearts for the service.
Music is a divine gift from God,
so we should use this wonderful gift to edify men and to glorify His name.
Apostle Paul exhorted the believers to
“admonish one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in our hearts to the Lord”
(Col 3:16).

詩頌是會眾的時間，
可以默想神的慈愛，恩典和憐憫，
透過吟唱讚美詩。
領詩的職責就是要引導會眾，
來歌頌讚美主，
並預備他們的內心來參加聚會。
音樂是神聖的恩賜，

Preparation Beforehand 事前準備


– Pray for the guidance and abidance of the Lord. 禱告求主帶領同在


– Select hymns: 選好讚美詩


‧ Choose hymns related to the sermon topic, if applicable. 若可行，選擇講道主題相關的讚美詩


‧ 2-3 hymns for a 5-minute hymn-singing session;
4-6 hymns for a 10-minute hymn-singing session.

‧ 5分鐘的詩頌唱 2-3 首讚美詩；
10分鐘的詩頌唱 4-6 首讚美詩。


‧ Prepare back-up hymns for unexpected circumstances. 預備好備用的讚美詩以防未知狀況


– Consult the Chinese and English hymnals
and take note of the following for each hymn:

– 查閱中英文讚美詩集
並記錄每首聖詩以下的資訊：


‧ Number of verses 讚美詩的節數


– if the number of verses differs between the Chinese and English versions,
decide how many verses are to be sung.

– 若中英文版本的歌詞節數不同，
請決定要唱多少節。


‧ Tempo – decide upon the speed of the hymn.

‧ 節奏－請決定讚美詩的拍速。


‧ Fermata – look for the “pause” signs
and decide how long they are to be held.

‧ 停頓－請尋找「暫停」符號，並決定要暫停多久的時間。


‧ Beat pattern 節拍的型態


– practice in front of a mirror before hand
until you are familiar with the pattern.

– 事先對著鏡子練習，直到熟悉模式。


Preparation on the Hour 準時準備好


– As hymn leaders are visible to the congregation,
dress and groom yourself appropriately to serve God and represent the church.

– 由於領詩是會眾的焦點，

– Arrive at least 5 minutes before the hymn-singing session.

– 請至少詩頌時段前提早 5 分鐘到達。


– Write all the hymn numbers on the board or projector
(or inform the audio-visual personnel).

– Make sure the accompanist is present,
and discuss any necessary details
(such as the hymn tempo and fermata length).

(which will be relevant in Procedure 4).

Procedure 程序


1. Silent prayer 默禱


2. “In the name of Jesus Christ, we begin our hymn-singing session.”

3. “Please sing hymn number ______.”
a. Introduce the hymn or quote relevant Bible verse
b. Mention the verses to be sung
c. Cue the accompanist on the tempo before each hymn
d. Say the number of the next verse prior to singing it
(helpful for people coming in late)

3. “請唱讚美詩第______首。”
a. 介紹讚美詩或引用相關的聖經經文
b. 提醒要唱的詩節
c. 在每首讚美詩開始前，提示司琴詩歌節拍
d. 在讚美詩下一節之前，說出第幾節的編號
（有助於遲到進入的人）


4. Make eye contact with the sermon speaker near the end of the hymn
to confirm whether the speaker is ready to deliver the sermon;
if not, continue with another hymn.

4. 詩頌快結束時，眼神示意講道者，
以確認講道者是否準備好要開始講道；
如果還沒好，則繼續唱另一首讚美詩。

Additional Pointers 額外的要點


– Be prepared to translate if the congregation is multi-lingual.

– 如果會眾來自不同語言背景，要準備好翻譯。


– During the hymn-singing session,
do not be too concerned with conducting;
just make sure to lead the congregation through each hymn.

在詩頌崇拜時間，
不要太在意指揮；
只要確保帶領會眾唱完每首聖詩。


– Be assertive in leading the congregation to praise God.

—帶領會眾讚美神要堅定。


– Relax and move your arms naturally to the music.
