In the Bible, “Ebenezer” is used three times, twice to refer to a city
(1 Sam 4:2, 5:1).
1 Samuel 7:12 records,
“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen,
and called its name Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the LORD has helped us.’”
Ebenezer comes from the Hebrew phrase Eben ha-Ezer, meaning “stone of help.”
聖經中，“Ebenezer”被使用了三次，兩次是指一座城市
（撒上 4：2，5：1）
撒母耳記上 7 章 12 節記載，
“12撒母耳將一塊石頭立在米斯巴和善的中間，

In the hymn “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing,”
the second verse begins, “Here I raise my Ebenezer.”
Raising Ebenezer is a way of thanking God for the grace and mercy He has bestowed upon us.

The first Bible to use both chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible published in 1560,
51 years before the King James translation.
